I’ll bet you aren’t aware of it, but the biggest obstacle holding you back from success in MLM (or anything) is most likely — You!
You are around people who don’t think like you. They tell you all the reasons it can’t be done, yet they aren’t doing anything themselves to make it happen. You know, down deep in your gut they are wrong. You know you need to surround yourself with people who are doing it, people who think like you (or the way you should be thinking), yet, you are constantly sucked into the bottomless pit of negativity.
At some point you have a flash of insight. A flash that gets you off your assets and into action, but a few days later you get sucked backed into the pit of negativity, procrastination and feeling stuck again.
Science has proven new neuronal pathways can be established. Pathways that reprogram you for success, pathways that replace bad habits with good habits, procrastination with productivity, feelings of despair with feelings of hope, and most important, programming to replace lack with abundance.
Science has also proven that it takes 30 days to make this happen, and if you skip a day, you have to start over. Knowing that, would you be willing to start every day for the next thirty days rebooting your brain in safe mode?
Here are 7 strategies to make that happen:
1) Journal.
Get yourself a journal from Staples and write down everything you do. Write down your accomplishments, your failures, how you spent your time, what you ate, how much television you watched, how much you read, everything you did that day, and do it every day.
You’re not going to want to admit you weren’t productive, so you’ll either have to lie (which serves no purpose) or really do something productive, even if at first it’s for the pride of writing a positive entry.
2) Plan tomorrow today.
In another journal or notebook write out your “To Do” list for tomorrow, and put the hardest projects at the top of the list. You’ll start the next day focused with a clear plan of what to do, instead of turning on the computer, checking Facebook, your email, etc…
3) Plan the overall picture NOW!
In yet another notebook, list out your major projects. For Network Marketing, this can be people you need to contact, marketing material that needs to be completed, etc… Under each project list out all the steps that need to be done to complete the project and most important of all, assign a due date to each step. Record your progress (or lack of) in your daily journal.
4) Stick with Success Principle #23 (The Rule of Five) Diligently For 30 Days and it will become second nature.
Do five things a day that lead you toward your goals. If your only goal right now is to build your network marketing business, reach out to five people a day. Do whatever it takes to make this happen.
What will happen once this becomes second nature?
If you’re only using the rule of five for MLM prospecting, in a year you will have asked 1,825 people if they are interested in your business. If only five percent of them like what they see, that’s over 90 people, not counting any growth they bring in.
The bottom line is that five productive things done daily not only adds up, it compounds itself.
5) Get An Accountability Partner.
This can be anyone with any goal. Like journaling, you’re not going to want to admit you were counterproductive to achieving your goals.
Although it should be fairly easy for you to find an accountability partner in your Network Marketing Organization (either upline or downline) it can really be anyone, perhaps someone who wants to lose weight.
All you need to do is spend ten minutes a day reviewing what happened the day before. Ask your partner, “Did you contact five new prospects?”, “Did you go to the gym?”, “What did you eat?”, “Did you follow-up with so and so who expressed interest in your business?”.
You get the idea.
Accountability is where the magic happens. It’s the reason why organizations such as Alcoholics Anonymous and Weight Watchers have a much higher success rate than individuals going at it alone. Nobody wants to get up in front of a room full of people and admit they had a drink, or pigged out on French Fries and ice cream the day before.
Fortune 500 companies use it and you should too.
6) Spend a few minutes each day or night reading.
You may not be able to hang with millionaires and the world’s greatest thought leaders personally, but you can read their books, and when you do it, you replace ingrained negative patterns with new ideas. It’s almost as if you are sitting with the author one on one and getting a brain dump. If you don’t already have it, pick up “The Success Principles” by Jack Canfield (referenced in #4) and start reading it. It will take you longer than 30 days to finish the book, so it’s a perfect fit for this. Better yet, order the Quick Start Pack from Jack’s Website which just so happens to be 30 Success Principles to get you started right now, with powerful exercises you do on your own after listening to and reading them.
7) Mail Yourself Inspirational Post Cards.
Go out and buy 30 postcards and stamps.
What are your biggest blocks?
On each card, write something positive to yourself that enforces your ability to breakthrough each.
I can ________________.
I will contact ___________.
Mail one every day and receive a reminder of inspiration from yourself.
Do all 7 of these for thirty days and you will have new habits. Habits that have once and for all reprogrammed your brain to take steps in the right direction and abolish the naysayers at the same time.
